JEAN PAUL RIOPELLE - D'UN CONTINENT À L'AUTRE

From December 8, 2023 to February 10, 2024, Galerie Clavé Fine Art will be devoting an exhibition to Canadian artist Jean Paul Riopelle. Presented on the occasion of the centenary of his birth, “Jean Paul Riopelle, D’un continent à l’autre”, in reference to the Canadian motto “D’un océan à l’autre”, the artist’s country of origin, it offers an overview of the diversity of Riopelle’s pictorial practice. Spanning a significant period of his artistic career, the twenty or so works on display, from 1940 to 1990, testify to the multiplicity of media used by the artist. Oils on canvas and sculptures rub shoulders with collages and works on paper, creating a creative dialogue of materials, echoing the delicate washi by Kengo Kuma that covers the gallery walls.
